Michael Stephens took his degree at Keele University, and
was a Blackstone Exhibitioner at the Middle Temple. Michael sits as a
Recorder and is a Master of the Bench of the Middle Temple.
Michael is a door tenant at Design Chambers. His principal place of
practice is Kings
Chambers, Embassy House, 60 Church Street, Birmingham, B3 2DJ, Tel: 0845 034 3444.
His practice is now mainly orientated to commercial matters and professional negligence, including all commercial aspects of intellectual property,
e-business and media law. He is willing to appear in the Technology and Construction Court (formerly the Official Referees Court) on all
matters that that court now hears. He is a member of the Midland Chancery & Commercial Bar Association as well as the Technology and
Construction Bar Association. Michael is also willing to take on cases concerning complex questions of trading standards and consumer law.
Michael is particularly keen on ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution), and is able to sit as an Arbitrator, Mediator or Conciliator. He is a
Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (F.C.I.Arb) and a Qualified Mediator under the Academy of Experts. Michael is always
willing to give advice on whether ADR would be a cost and/or time effective solution to a given
dispute
Michael Stephens was the 2014 President of the Chartered Institute
of Arbitrators.
